Basildon extended their unbeaten run to four games with a well-earned draw away at Romford.
|
An early goal from former Romford man Frank McArdle, poking in off the post from a Menga knock-down, silenced the home crowd and steadied Basildon before Billy Thompson made it 2-0 with a rasping drive from 25-yards that gave the Romford 'keeper no chance.
After the break Romford came out strong and were soon level when Dean Allen flicked on a deep inswinging free-kick that looped over the dive of Dean Neil, before Jordan Tolan raced clear of the Bees defence to shoot home for 2-2.
Both sides had opportunites to win it, with McArdle seeing a shot cleared from the line, while Menga had a goal disallowed for offside, but in the end, Basildon returned home with an acceptable point.
