From the Prague 2000 Tour programme
Paul or 'Macca' is a gifted all-round defender. Showing great composure on the ball Paul is rarely put under pressure, which still baffles me why he scored that thirty yard own goal and missed a penalty in the same game! You've heard the phrase "all talk and no trousers"? Well Macca has one of the largest pairs of strides you'll see and he never says a word about them, with the ability to down a pint in around 7 seconds, he'll be in his element with the cheap continental beers.
From the Denmark 2001 Tour programme
Older half of the 'McShea Brothers', Silent-but-deadly Clapham resident Paul has again been a thorn in the side of some of the Independent Sunday League's top forwards. Comfortable at full-back as well as in the middle, Macca thrives on the sight of cocky youths writhing in agony on the floor and is hoping he will get the opportunity this weekend to see some more, even if he has to pay. As in Prague, Paul will again be in his element in another of Europe's beer producing nations.
From the Vicenza 2002 Tour programme
Like a vegetarian's fart, Macca is silent but extremely deadly. On first impressions the older McShea wouldn't say boo to a goose, but get near him in a Kamara strip and don't expect to bend your knees ever again. A regular on Woodhurst's tours from day one, Paul is good value at the bar and never disappoints. Bagged off last year in some kind of managè a quatre with Ryan and a couple of Danes, but got nothing more than covered head to foot in rain in the early hours of Sunday morning.
