A tough test in Dagenham saw a gritty performance from Woodhurst, which, though lacking in style, was enough to secure safe passage into round two of the T&D Cup.

A goal from the prolific Andrew Shepperd midway through the first half set Woodhurst on their way after a neat passing move down the left, but the visitors couldn't capitalise on what was a small and bobbly pitch.
Jamie Bradbury deputising for 'tardy' Tom Gray was rarely troubled between the sticks and when Paul McShea extended the lead soon after the break with an emphatic strike from 15 yards out, Woodhurst looked home and dry.
However, a quickly taken corner from Essex Snooker caught the Hurst defence off-guard and when Alex Alexander's attempted clearance spun high into the air, the ball ended up in the net - despite what seemed like a routine catch for Bradbury under the bar.
But Jan Souleyman made it three-one soon after, rounding of a good move involving Shepperd on the left, and stroking powerfully past the 'keeper into the corner of the net.
Berwick Manor now await in the next round and a return to the Leys looks on the cards with a place in the semi-final at stake for the winners. If Woodhurst are going to reach a final in their first Corinthian season, their going to have to do it the hard way.
